One way to increase your income is to start teaching your craft from home. I put an add in the local paper a couple of years ago and and in no time at all I had 35 students. I have managed to keep it at around that number. I charge $25/per half an hr lesson. I could have more but I choose not to. I could charge more but I choose not to.
$25 x 35=$875
not bad for a part-time stay at home job aye? If you've got the time or inclination as a musician or artist you could more than double that figure. I teach about approx 4hrs a day, 4 days a week
I teach after 3pm when school is out.
As I live in a rural area, we don't have a huge population base. So most of my students are children and teenagers. If you're living in a more populated area like a large city you could increase the amount of income by having adult students during the day.
Teaching Guitar at home at first was a struggle as I worried about what to teach, I found keeping it simple and not been so over prepared for each lesson helpful. Reason? by been too enthusiastic to introduce new lessons every week to a beginner can be overwhelming for most.
so I have stuck with the old saying 'K.I.S.S' ("keep it simple stupid")
